TROODOS JEEP SAFARI (Tuesday, Friday & Sunday)

We begin our journey traveling through rugged hills and valleys, past Kouris, the largest dam on the island. We travel through the Mesa Potamos region and take a relaxing stroll to the small picturesque waterfall of this region. You will be able to take amazing pictures of the deserted Monastery that we will find on our way. A thrilling drive towards Platres will bring us to another waterfall, located in a paradise like spot. The tour continues to the island's highest peak, mount Olympus. At an altitude of 1951 meters, we stand on the throne of the Ancient Gods and marvel at the panoramic views. Our next stop will be for a relaxing lunch. We continue west of Pedhoulas village till we arrive at the famous Kykkos Monastery, which houses the icon of the Virgin Mary, painted by St. Luke. We travel through pine forests to the village of Milikouri and stop at the Kelefos Bridge. We then head to the wine producing village of Omodhos where we will have our last coffee break before making our way back to the hotels. Please note that modest attire is required when visiting monasteries and churches, i.e. no shorts or low-cut blouses.


An exciting combination of jeep safari and donkey riding. Enjoy discovering some of the wilder parts of Cyprus with their own natural beauty and charm. Visit small villages and see for yourselves the traditional village life with its unique History and Culture. We will make a break for coffee at a local "kafenion". We then head to Kelokedara village, where we will visit a traditional house, to reconstruct the lifestyle of the bygone days, sample wine, "zivania", and taste some local delicacies such as "haloumi", olives, "sushukko", fresh bread etc. Travelling through picturesque orange groves we make our way to the donkeyfarm. The donkey ride takes us through the beautiful countryside till we arrive at the 13th century Cyndi Monastery, which has been restored by UNESCO in cooperation with Kykkos Monastery, and has been declared by EUROPA NOSTRA a protected area. The donkeys will then take us back to the farm, where a traditional BBQ lunch will be waiting for you, with unlimited wine, "zivania" and juice for children. After the meal, its is time for dance and fun ! The "Donkey Farm" team will be there to entertain you. A relaxing drive through the countryside will bring you back to your hotel.


Discover the mysterious and unexplored territory of Akamas, and you will soon become aware that it has been undisturbed for centuries. At one time this area was the site of a major Roman city. Discover the Byzantine ruins that are surrounded by unique flowers, rare birds and breathtaking landscapes. Stroll along the Avagas Gorge, where the sheer limestone walls arise above you. A short drive leads to Lara Bay - one of the last breeding places for the large Green Back Turtles. Then onto the Akamas forest, where you can enjoy a traditional "souvla" accompanied with village wine, in the shade of our BBQ site. Then join in with some local music and dancing. Moving on towards the northern peninsula we visit the Baths of Aphrodite, where according to legend Aphrodite bathed with her lover Adonis. We then drive to Chrysochou Bay for a swim in the tranquil waters. Our last stop is at Skouli village where at a small extra charge you can see an interesting collection of endemic snakes and reptiles. An amazing experience not to be missed ! BBQ at the site and swimming are weather permitted.


Exploring the east part of Troodos Mountains, our first stop will be for coffee in a quaint mountain village. We proceed to the ostrich farm in Agios Ioannis village, west of Lefkosia, where we gain insight into ostrich farming, as a mini-train takes us on a tour around the farm. We continue to Fikardou village, which is under the protection of the Cyprus Tourism Organization and is a reminder of life in Cyprus in bygone times Leaving Fikardou, we make our way to Machairas monastery, "The Knife", which is set in a picturesque dip in the mountains. The monastery was founded in 1148, after an icon of the Virgin Mary was found in a nearby cave. The brotherhood is extremely devout, keeping vows as strict as those of Mount Athos in Greece. For lunch we will enjoy "souvla", the traditional BBQ, and generally relax, drink and be merry. Our afternoon stop is at the village of Lefkara, a "shopper's" paradise in a maze of tiny streets lined with curious little shops that sell the beautiful local lace and silverware. The Camel Park is next, where you can join the camel caravan and have plenty of time for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing.


Head for the hills on our traditional Bedford bus. We take the road to Platres to make our first stop at the Kouris Dam. We go off the main road to the tiny village of Lofou. Explore the narrow stone paved streets, the protected buildings and the time honored stone built houses. This is an ideal spot for our morning break, which includes a shot of the famous distilled liquid, "zivania". We continue our journey through picturesque villages with splendid views of the Troodos mountain range. Our next stop is at Phini village, famous for large-scale pottery. At the Pilavakis Museum, you will see the old custom re-enacted in which women who have just given birth are bathed with hot water and herbs in one of the "Pitharia". After lunch we drive to Omodhos village to discover the traditional village square and to visit the monastery of the Holy Cross. Driving down to Lemesos, our last stop will be at the Cat Sanctuary at Akrotiri.

The Treasure Hunt Safari is a new excursion. You do not only have the chance of seeing many places and learning many things about Cyprus by visiting areas where no other excursion approaches, but also the teamwork spirit among everybody in the jeep brings you together like a big happy family. A trip full of fun, adventurous and without any doubt educational, as the guiding, the questions written on the guidelines and the different tasks you will have to fulfill, help you to learn a lot about the island of Cyprus. You will be equipped only with guidelines (questions and directions), but being in the spirit of teamwork you will be able at the end of the trip to gather together, as many points as possible and you never know who the winner will be.
