South Africa Hotels

South Africa is located on the southern tip of Africa, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the west and the Indian Ocean on the south and east. The total area of South Africa's is 1.2 million sq. km. The country is geographically composed of 3 regions: a central plateau, a nearly mountain ranges that ring the plateau on the west, south, and east, and a narrow strip of low-lying land along the coast. South Africa has 9 provinces: Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern, Mpumalanga, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, North West, Free State and Northern Cape.

South Africa is the home to a number of unusual plants, very special animals and a lot of gold and diamonds. The Kimberley Mine, one of South Africa's most famous mines, once produced almost all the world's diamonds - about 95 %. Some 10% of the world's flowering species are found here. South Africa is the only country in the world that has an entire plant kingdom within its borders.

South Africa is a large and extraordinary land with great chances for all kinds of adventure travellers: from diving and whitewater rafting to mountain-climbing and trekking. The most travellers come here to take part in safari travel.

The most famous safari area is Eastern Transvaal, a continuous stretch of savanna extending for 400 miles along South Africa's northeastern border. The Eastern Transvaal is also home to Kruger National Park, one of the most famous wildlife parks in the world. You can see here “big five”: lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes and rhinos. A lot of other animals such as cheetahs, zebras, antelopes, giraffes and hippopotami can be also found here. There are also 2 unique desert areas ideal for camel safaris: the Kalahari and Bushmanland. While the Kalahari has a more duned landscape, Bushmanland is semi-arid and pierced by the Orange River.

The country also has a lot of small parks and reserves that are also interesting and full of attractions: Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park- a beautiful territory of grassland, woodland, and forest, the parks of the Drakensberg Mountains that offer attractions for trekkers, climbers, and birdwatchers. Among the best parks are the Royal Natal National Park and the Natal Drakensberg Park.

South Africa is an extremely beautiful country that offers a combination of culture, city experience, adventure, safari and aesthetic delight.
